Sonic Adventure 2: Battle - Review
For me this game doesn't feel right for some reason. Maybe playing Sonic on Gamecube wasn't meant to be. Maybe thinking of Sonic reminds me to much of drive in burgers. In spite of all that crap I just said, Sega pulls off a slightly an average game which didn't quite live up to it's predecessor on Dreamcast.
Graphics/ Presentation
Graphically this game is a port of the Dreamcast version. We all know that the Gamecube can do better. That doesn't mean that the game doesn't look nice though. The camera could use some serious work though. It gets in the way a lot of the time. Not to shabby though.
Gameplay
Most of the level design didn't offer much in the way of exploration. You are basically forced to go one way only, which is ok but it kinda cuts down on the replay value. Controls are fine: Not bad but not good exactly. And like a lot of other people, I absolutely hate doing treasure hunts. Knuckles is cool but he got a sucky part. Most of the other levels are fun but too easy. The fun factor diminishes after a little while and gets plain boring.
Multiplayer
I won't even go here...it's a waste of time.
Replay Value
Having two different story lines was cool but the "villain" characters are basically clones of the "heroes". It was a nice addition though. Overall, the game seemed a bit on the easy side. I beat both light and dark stories in one rental. Chao world also adds to the lasting appeal. Raising a powerful chao takes a while and the races and karate are pretty cool. The different kinds of chao is also a nice touch. But I'm not a real big sonic fan, as most of the visitors to the forum know.
