Resident Evil- Review By Jackcrap
I bought this game about two weeks ago and I haven't played it too much so I really can't tell you about the 2nd disc very much. However, I've played this game enough to know that blowing apart zombies has never been better.
Gameplay/ Presentation
Graphically, this game is phenomenal. The lighting and shadows really add to the horror experience. Enemies (all varieties) are more detailed making them even scarier (to some; not me of course). While the camera angles are good for this type of game and add to the effect of the environment, when the camera switches angles it seems to be choppy. A minor flaw, in an astounding visually packed thriller.
Controls
I had to have an extra section for Resident Evil's controls. Those of you who have played this game or any of the series' other games you know what I mean. The hardest part I find is running and turning at the same time when trying to escape from a quick hunter or crimson head zombie. The only solution I found was a controller type C. Certain amount of pressure on the R button makes you walk or run while you steer with the control stick. This works much better although it takes some getting used to.
Replay Value
Making a single player only game with good replay value is pretty tough and Capcom pulls it off pretty well in Resident Evil. There are two secret weapons (that I know of) that you can unlock by beating the game in certain amounts of time (no spoilers here!). Alternate costumes are also pretty cool, especially Chris' second one that you unlock (I haven't gotten it but I've seen it and it looks awesome). Plus there are several alternate modes of play such as (ok maybe there is one spoiler) invisible enemy mode. You can unlock three others including hard mode. There are also a total of eight different ending depending on how many people you keep alive and if you destroy the mansion or not. Most notably, being able to play through the story as Jill and Chris also adds to the lasting appeal.
Rating: Frickin' Awesome!!!
